porphyrin: (family)
Took the day off, which necessitated approximately 14 phone calls to legitimize.

Doing laundry in preparation for Dena's visit this weekend.  Did a little cleaning of the house, and found a box for 'goodbye books'-- books, in other words, whose presence I no longer want in the house.

Anyone interested in a random selection of recent Asimov & F&SF, bad SFF novels, and a second copy of Sun Pin, let me know.

Went past Micawber's bookstore on the way to buy coffee (COFFEE!) at Dunn Bros-- a mistake.  It sucked me in and I had a bookstore accident.

The owner-- whose wife I know through my day job-- grabbed me and pulled a box out from under a church pew (you should see this store, it's really a little gem of an independent place, and they will order books, any books, for you) and handed me 10-15 advance galleys of YA & chapter books.

When I asked him why he wasn't carrying Pam Dean and Pat Wrede's stuff on the shelves, he actually looked abashed and said, "Space is limited, and I know the specfic selection is poor, but I'll order whatever you recommend to stock on the shelves.

I recommended Bujold's latest two, Dean's trilogy, and Wrede's collaboration -- the Enchanted Chocolate Pot.  Plus, Peg Kerr's stuff.

I also pointed out that all four authors live nearby.  He, being a new owner (slightly over a year), *thinks* they've all been in to sign in the past.  Perhaps-- I hope-- he will contact them to do so again in the future.

Got an email from the folks in St. Cloud, and they will be putting together a date for a job interview in the near future.  It makes me slightly queasy-- me?  A job interview?

I don't interview well.

I don't even think I own a suit that fits.

I'm not sure my CV is up to the task.

I... uh.  Really want this job?
