Actually, it feels *good* to be writing again.  "Bufo's Dream" is up to 1300 words, and the first third is done.

(I do have to wonder why so much of my work features bisexual, homosexual, or transgendered characters.  I honestly don't plan it out that way.  And why none of THAT ends up selling.  No, don't tell me, I have a sneaking suspicion I already know.)

My sister brought me a book this morning, called _Wild Animus_.  Apparently they were giving copies out in front of the student union yesterday-- ARC's.  Kim said they had 30 boxes of ARC's.  What that says about the promotionals budget for this one book boggles my mind.  (It's by an imprint called _Too Far_, if that means anything to anyone.)

If only someone would do that for good SF.

Last day of vacation, and my mother's coming this weekend, and I start work again Monday with a week and a half of 'easy' stuff-- just really assessing kids with cardiac conditions, listening to heart murmurs, that sort of thing.

Did you know that there are all sorts of different heart murmurs?  There are continuous ones that sound like machinery, others that sound like doves cooing, some that sound like paper ripping, or bees humming, or still others that sound like a washing machine gone very awry.  Body music, each and every one of them-- even the ones that come and go.

Right, and I love having someone stick red-hot needles up under my fingernails.

*bangs head against story some more*

3000 words or thereabouts.

Done, done, done, done, with my first story in 4.5 months!

Hope Elise likes it, once I kick it into a more polished form.
