I've been either face down in the books, working, or WISHING I was face down in the books all week.

We've hired an 11 year old to watch the kid while we scrape glue from the walls this afternoon. If it goes well, we'll have him come back a few times this fall while we try to finish up the downstairs.

I feel guilty; Mike has done an inordinate amount of work on ATC. He's the one who scraped and prepped and painted the upstairs hallway. He did the stairwell, too-- and that included putting textured white paint on the ceiling to match the popcorn ceiling of the entryway.

Now we have half the entryway to go, and then we have to do the molding somehow, in a way that both looks good and pleases us. My immediate impulse is to RESTORE EVERYTHING! It looks like there was once wainscotting in the entryway, and the molding over the archways really needs to be put back on, but we don't have all of it.

Mike's father, who is a contractor and owns his own company, will be coming out to help us with that and glass block windows for the basement. ATC is sucking up a lot of time; strangely, Mike seems to enjoy it. "Nothing like pulling your own weeds," he says, and then he's back to work.

Today Robin's behavior has bordered on the apocalyptic. He's in bed, resting up for this poor 11 year old kid. I'm thinking 5 bucks an hour is a small price to pay to have someone else deal with him for a little while.

I leave for Columbus in exactly 7 days. Then it's a week off for WFC.

I just hope I pass the boards. I've been having stress dreams about it every night.
