Small Squall Impressions:

Robin staring out the window and asking, "Izzit night?"

The water, calf-deep on 7th street and coming up over the floorboards of some of the cars parked on the street.  Robin's take:  "It's a river!  Can I swim in it?"

Sitting on the porch swing watching the rain come down.

Swearing as the umbrella bent out of shape.  Stupid cheap umbrella.

Scrambling around as water poured in through the back entryway

Our house is on the corner of 7th St. SE, which used to be an old creekbed.

Any time we get a sudden squall, 7th fills up from curb to curb and then starts to overflow. Trying to return to the past, shall we say?

All the cars parked on 7th got a bit... wet. There'll be some disgruntled owners around in a bit.

Ooooh....::making mental note not to live in old creekbed...::

I just moved here from New Orleans to get AWAY from instantaneous flooding every time it rained. I would hate to find myself dealing with it again anytime soon. Ugh. Flooding SUCKS, unless you have nothing to lose, and it stays flooded while it turns sunny out, in which case it's kind of fun to walk in, provided your tetanus shot is up to date :-D.

I've missed living by water. :)

We're a couple blocks from the Mississippi (it's so little and cute up here, as opposed to further south!), and that's nice, but I could do without the 'street turns into floodzone' stuff.
