porphyrin: (skeptical)
Finished 'The Sword-Edged Blonde', which was ...ok. Not great, but I read it the whole way through with enjoyment. If you like detectives and fantasy, check this out from the library. My take? Either hard-boil your 'sword jockey' a bit more, or make him the Sensitive Male; the swing from one to the other through the story threw me out of the narrative hard more than once.

Most of the way through 'Singularity's Ring'. Amazing. FANTASTIC book. Highly recommend; in fact, I make a religion of my bedtime being 10 pm these days (due to the 'getting up at 4:50 AM for work' thing), and I stayed up until midnight to get as far as I could. I've got about three chapters to go.

Of course, I'm too tired now to be more coherent than: LOVE THIS. YOU GO BUY NOW, SINGLETON.

I hope we'll see more from Mr. Melko in the future.

As I drove in to work, there was a big fat pumpkin-colored moon sinking past the horizon. Itunes U was playing a lecture about Hannibal in my ear, and the river of headlights streaming toward the city was damn near hypnotic.

There are some compensations to my morning drive; the occasional flash of beauty and the time to listen to something fascinating are two of them.

Tell me about your morning commute. What is the best part? What do you use your time to do?
