Netbooks

Any recommendations on a good one? I need it to be able to access Epic, be sturdy enough to survive a little bumping around, and be able to run the Windows apps that I need (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Bri and I both have Asus eeePCs, and we are very happy.

anne_mommy has a Dell Inspiron Mini which she says is very nice.

There are now Asus eees that run Windows, right? I'm looking at netbooks, too, and I need one that runs Windows, because I need Word and Eudora. In fact, I've been wondering if netbooks are robust enough in general to run Word.

Netbooks can run Word, and most of them now come with Windows. Eudora should be no problem.

I'm curious, why do you need those two applications specifically?

I'm a copyeditor and a personal assistant, so those are the two applications I use most often. I may have to give up Eudora eventually, but I haven't found anything I prefer yet for the way I use e-mail.

Actually, the application that's most important to me is the web browser, but I take it as given that something called a netbook will cover that handily.

To further Eric's recommendations, a friend of Sam's has an Asus eeePC he's very happy with. He let me play with it, and it's very impressive.

What does accessing Epic require?

Depending on how much you want to spend, the HP 12.1" touch screen laptop / tablet is pretty nice. I've got one and really enjoy it. It's a little over twice as much as the EEE PC.
